Vijayawada: Land grabbing charges made by the TDP-led NDA Government against the YSRCP has generated a lot of heat in Andhra Pradesh.

TDP and YSRCP are crossing swords in Andhra Pradesh over alleged land scams with the ruling party accusing the erstwhile government headed by Pulivendula MLA YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for his involvement in unauthorised occupation of government lands. TDP put preliminary estimates of land grabbing of 1.75 lakh acres across the State at worth Rs35,000 crore.

Naidu alleged that as per information available till the time of compiling the white paper, 1.75 lakh acres worth a whopping Rs35,000 crore was illegally occupied during the previous regime either by the ruling party leaders or their henchmen. He said they will order an investigation into land scams that occurred in Visakhapatnam and other places and take stringent action against all those involved, however big they are.

Rubbishing the white paper on lands, mines and minerals, YSRCP leader and former Minister Merugu Nagarjuna said the white paper contained baseless and false allegations and challenged Naidu to substantiate any one of the charges made against the YSRCP regime.

On the alleged involvement of YSRCP big wigs in Daspalla lands scam, he charged Naidu with consistently trying to suppress facts and reminded that the courts including the Supreme Court have ruled that the lands in question do not belong to the government.

He said the owners of 64 plots had openly stated that they willingly gave their lands for development and appealed not to politicise the issue. He said 38.6 acres of precious government lands were grabbed by GITAM deemed to be a university at Rushikonda, Naidu when he was in power did not take any action. The university owner M Sribharat is the sitting MP from TDP from Visakhapatnam.

On looting of mineral resources and mines, the former Minister said Naidu’s claim on leases were frivolous and figment of imagination and showed an attempt to defame YSRCP and its leaders. Earlier, Naidu alleged that all kinds of natural resources of the State were completely looted in the past five years during the YSRCP rule. Pointing out that Rs 653 crore went down the drain under the alibi of issuing fresh passbooks after land resurvey, the Chief Minister announced that the resurvey taken up by the previous government will be withdrawn. He also alleged scandals in grabbing land allotted to Rama Naidu film studio and an old age home in Visakhapatnam, which the YSRCP wanted to make the executive capital.
